How To Take Measurements

How to take my measurementsTaking your measurements is a first step to determine your size. How to take measurements is simple, all you need is a pencil, paper and a soft measuring tape that is used for sewing. It is recommended to put on comfortably fitting underwear. Do not wear padded bras! Stand in front of a mirror or have a friend or relative to take the measurements for you.
Bust: measure all the way around your bust and make sure the measuring tape is on the bust fullest part, at your nipple line, no lower or upper. Do not squeeze, tighten or loosen the measuring tape. Write down the numbers you read where the tape end meets itself. Remember to take off padded bras during this operation.
Waist: Repeat the same for the smallest part of the waist. The waist is right above the navel button line
Hips: Measure yourself at the biggest part of the body somewhere above the upper part of your thighs
See the drawing for visual information on how take your body measurements.
The three measurements are needed to determine your size. If you need to take your measurements for some piece of clothing you will need to measure more areas like chest, thighs (for pants), midway (for skirts and dresses) but this will be the topic of my next article.
